Steven Scesa
Mr. Scesa earned a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Vanderbilt University, and then a MBA in Finance and JD from the University of Illinois when both programs were in the Top 20 of their respective fields.  While in law school, Mr. Scesa was the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Illinois Law Review.

After practicing corporate law for a few years at Mayer, Brown & Platt, Mr. Scesa practiced mergers & acquisitions law at Latham & Watkins focusing predominantly on private company transactions, restructurings, consensual work-outs, and bankruptcy auctions.

In 2005, Mr. Scesa left the practice of law and began developing and managing the operations of a variety of companies.

Mr. Scesa would like to honor the two people who most helped him in life:

Carol Scesa (1935-2019)
Mr. Scesa's mother grew up on a cotton farm the eldest of nine children.  She became a model and fashionista in her 20s in Los Angeles and Miami.  In her 40s, she became a hard driving entrepreneur, real estate developer and businesswoman.
Throughout her life, she was always an overall inspiration and source of laughter to everyone she came into contact with and especially among her wonderful brothers and sisters.
Her chicken noodle soup and sharp wit are exceptionally missed far too often.

Steve Scesa (1922-2016)
Mr. Scesa's father grew up in the Sierra Mountains of California the son of Italian immigrants.  After serving in the US Navy in WW2, he earned his BS, MS & PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1954.
Dr. Scesa then began his long career performing thermonuclear warhead yield calculations for the US Defense Department on a variety of projects including Operation Teapot.  In the early 1960s, Dr. Scesa researched propulsion systems for the space program at the Rand Corporation, and then was integral in the building of the solid fuel rocket boosters for the space shuttle while at the Aerospace Corporation.
Dr. Scesa concluded his career with 20 years of teaching Mechanical Engineering at Memphis State University with specific focus on thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, power generation (including solar and wind) and energy efficiency.
Dr. Scesa also designed and built a passive solar house for his family that had virtually no HVAC expenses.
His pancakes, space industry stories, stock market insights and contrarianism are fondly missed.
